Expand your learning by registering for one of these optional tutorial sessions. These are informative ‘deep-dives’ into current topics. Select from one of three timely topics led by a subject-matter expert.

Tutorials take place on Monday, April 29, 2013, 9:15am-2:30pm. All three run concurrently. This full-day ‘deep-dive’, including  4 hours of education from industry-leading experts, breakfast, lunch, and class materials is only an additional $250.

 

Tutorial 1: DCIM Concepts: Investing, Building, and Growing a Sustainable DCIM Strategy

The explosion of DCIM offerings from vendors, DCIM definitions from analyst and DCIM (social) media coverage can leave people wondering what DCIM really is and question how they might successfully select and implement a solution for the long term. With a mix of industry vendor veterans and a DCIM power user who has lived through a DCIM implementation, this session will cover everything DCIM, including self-diagnosis, product evaluation, and implementation to long-term success. The session will be split into presentation and open panel sessions; and an anonymous pre-session survey will be distributed prior to Data Center World and the data will be evaluated and presented in the afternoon of this session.

Participants will come away with a solid understanding of DCIM and how to decide what it means for you, as well as plenty of real-works examples of what works and what does not.

Tutorial 2: Maintenance Best Practices

The availability of a data center can be enhanced by the quality of the maintenance program supporting it. This course will help participants better understand the issues surrounding maintenance and assess their own maintenance program. Topics that will be addressed include: documentation, vendor performance, contracts, procedures, SOWs, training, safety and other topics. Attendees will participate in an exercise to assess the current state of their maintenance program via a checklist provided to them. An updated version of the checklist will be provided as an excel-based tool to those who attend the session and will reflect suggestions made during the course of the tutorial. The tool will perform automatic tabulation and produce a chart of results that can be used as management tool.

The tutorial will help IT professionals better understand the aspects of data center facilities maintenance and further educate facilities professionals compare regarding their practices. Be prepared to learn, have some fun, and participate!
