Speaking Tips

  • Dress attire is business casual.
  • Educational sessions are one-hour long. It is important that you plan to allow enough time to present all of your slides and allow at least 10 minutes for a Q&A with the attendees. Past attendee comments have shown that the Q&A and open forum are highly valued parts of a session.
  • Data Center World conference room blocks consistently sell out. Register for the conference and make your hotel reservations early to ensure you get a room. AFCOM is not responsible for matching rates or finding additional rooms once this block is sold out.
  • Data Center World educational sessions must be presented free from any specific mentions of products or services. If you have any questions about what can be presented in the session, please contact the conference department: confserv@afcom.com; +1-714-997-7966.
  • When putting together your PowerPoint presentations, it is important that you follow the speaker guidelines.
  • Make sure to bring your laptop onsite to use for your presentation (never leave this unattended in a room).
  • Always bring a back-up version of your PowerPoint presentation onsite with you just in case.
  • Speaker cancellations are a great disappointment to both AFCOM and the attendees. To avoid this from happening and risk not getting invited to speak in the future, we recommend that you educate a colleague on your session so he or she can present it in the event of your absence. Speaker changes can be processed, however, once a session is selected, we are unable to change the session topic.
